Spyraflo offers a unique line of patented Self-Clinching and Self-Aligning bearings that allow for quick and easy installation, while solving many problems associated with hole misalignment. Utilising a technique not available from any other bearing manufacturer, they can be securely mounted in sheet metal panels as thin as 1mm. The unique method of mounting these bearings makes them impervious to shock, vibration and side load, and is equally successful on thin sheet steel panels or thick substantial frames and housings.
The ± 5° Self-Aligning capability enables assemblies, chassis and machines to all profit from the benefits of this feature. The SAE 840 Bronze, Delrin, PTFE Impregnated Bronze or Needle Roller Bearings are incorporated in a spherical insert that is held in place by an outer steel, or stainless steel retainer. The insert can pivot ± 5° in any radial inclination, thereby ensuring smooth shaft alignment and rotation. The Self-Clinch installation is uniquely fast, with no need for accurately positioned, or sized mounting holes. This technique can be effectively used on a wide variety of materials, and the bearings are available in inch and mm sizes from 4mm to 25mm. Spyraflo engineering staff has, on many occasions, solved bearing mounting and application problems by incorporating the Self-Clinch and/or Self-Align features into Special Design solutions.
